Mobile Equipment Control Systems DevELoper

We are seeking a dynamic team member with initiative to join our small award-winning engineering/ technical team. We need you to bring your technical skills, as well as a willingness and desire to cross-train across disciplines. Willingness to learn and work with team members, and personality “fit” matter as much as your technical skills.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will design, implement, and support control systems for hydraulic powered mobile drilling and testing equipment. The drilling and testing equipment we produce uses the Danfoss Plus+1 system. As our designs evolve, we are looking to increase the use of automation and leading-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

• Mobile equipment control system design and programming

• GUI design and programming

• 12/24 VDC system design

• Control system component selection (PLCs, sensors, displays, joysticks, etc.)

• Interface with power subsystems (electrical and hydraulic)

• Production of system wiring schematics

• Implementation of systems and commission of equipment

• Phone and field support for equipment

• Travel to client sites as required

Skills

• Programming equipment control systems

• Ladder logic programming

• Experience in Plus+1 Guide an asset

• Experience with automation an asset

• 12/24 VDC mobile equipment wiring design

• Sensor selection and integration

• Knowledge of power subsystems [lighting/controllers/actuators]

• Knowledge of SolidWorks electrical an asset

• CAN bus knowledge, J1939 and CAN Open

• Knowledge of mechanical systems and hydraulic an asset

Personal Attributes

• Artistic eye for GUI design

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Good organization skills

• Self-starter

• Work well with groups and individuals, including trades and professionals

• Self-motivated

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or degree in relevant field (e.g. computing, programming, engineering)

• 3+ years of experience
